NAME: Jotako Kujo
CANON: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (specifically Stone Ocean)
CANON REFERENCE: https://jojo.fandom.com/wiki/Jotaro_Kujo
AGE: 42
GENDER: Female
CHARACTER TYPE: Meta-human
APPEARANCE: https://i.imgur.com/W8YCpK5.png
PERSONALITY:Jotaro is, outwardly, a man of stone. He rarely ever expresses much emotion beyond small shifts from neutral and he speaks very little unless it's necessary. In this sense he is very much considered a stoic man whom one would need to know well to even tell what he's thinking half the time. This tends to be a pretty big point of frustration for his companions, and especially his mother (though she loves him to death, anyways). Of course he has his reasons for this.
Jotaro has, since his delinquent youth, maintained that people are always trying to read him anyways. He does NOT trust easily, to say the least. So he got into the habit of secluding his emotions behind an iron mask of toughness. However, beneath it all is a caring man who loves his family and holds a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for his friends and allies. Unfortunately, he REALLY fails at letting this inner self shine through most of the time. But when it does, it shines through with such intensity that it fuels him to pull of feats of strength, even without his Stand, that truly amazes. It is this inner light and "hope" that personifies his Stand, and eventually grants Star Platinum its power over time.
Jotaro is also extremely intelligent. A quiet and unexpected genius, Jotaro has a quick thinking and complex mind that is able to process information swiftly and efficiently. He's always thinking, observing, drawing strategies in his head almost instantly once he has enough information. Most of his time spent being silent is also time spent in thought, to be honest. Of course expressing these thoughts is a bit of an issue. He inherited his grandfather's bad habit of not informing anyone else of his plans before he enacts them. That being said, he's hardly an "act first, question later" sort, it's simply that he just might answer the questions for himself first.
This also means Jotaro is incredibly calm under pressure. While his temper can flair up and be released in direct and brutal violence sometimes, it's only when he's absolutely certain he can do so without spoiling a potential strategy. His lack of reaction to dire straits is nearly legendary, able to bluff his way through almost anything. All of his panic is done in silent thought, unexpressed in his words or his face, and only the most dire situations seem to really get him to break his cool.
Jotaro has some polarization to him with his usual fierceness and his uncommon gentleness. In the presence of those he loves, he can be soft and protective. However, this often is misdirected, or at least makes it very difficult for anyone else to understand just what the hell he's thinking when he does what he does. He is deceptively complex, and the true Jotaro only really seems to be known by the people he is closest too. Anyone else just sees a foul mouthed hoodlum trying to act cool by being constantly aloof.
Note on this AU: JOTAKO Kujo is largely the exact same as Jotaro. Because in both canon and AU, there are some gendered factors that inform Jotaro's personality (the yankee aesthetic and attitude tends to be a bit different between men and women in Japan, as well as the sort of annoying hanger-ons/groupies Jotako would have to deal with vs Jotaro and how they react to them), she is a bit kinder to women (and more dismissive of men) but other than that, it's still the same old marine biologist.
POWERS & ABILITIES:Jotako's meta-human power manifests as hyper-acceleration. This allows herself to break her own quantum limits and move so fast that to anyone else it would appear as if she stopped time around her (and that's honestly how it looks to her, as well). This allows her to exceed kinetic limits of energy output, which basically means if she were to punch you while this ability was active, it'd hit like a goddamn truck. The limit is how long she can use it, usually for about 5 seconds of perceived normal time outside of its effect range, though it can extend longer if she pushes herself. Unfortunately when she pushes herself that far, her body is taxed pretty heavily as a result. Cardiovascular damage is the most common.
Jotako is also an experienced biologist. While she specializes in marine life, her skills go well beyond that and she is capable of assisting pretty much every Meta-human under the NSO's care with biological concerns, particularly when it comes to mutations.
AU HISTORY:Jotako was born to wealth and relative comfort, her family having long been a protected ally of the Speedwagon Foundation, an energy company whose founder her great grandfather on her mother's side had helped out greatly some time in the past. Unfortunately that wealth couldn't protect the family from the machinations of an old enemy. It was during this time that, as a teenager, Jotako's Meta-human powers manifested around this time, as well, creating a spiral of chaos in the whole situation.
Throughout that event, though, Jotako came to realize that Metas are sort of... instinctively drawn to one another. She came across others like her, became deeply close to them, and mourned the loss of them. That truth of reaching out in a lonely world and finding there were those willing to reach back became a theme throughout her life, guided her through her adulthood, and even through the difficult of raising her own child.
In the end, while she is apart from her family at the moment, and still mourns the loss of those first companions she had at the start of her journey, she's still not alone. That same underlying fate of hers drew her to the NSO, to now be the guide for others like her, to help them on their own journeys, and assure they have less graves to dig than she had.
As a marine biologist, Jotako gained quite a bit of notoriety given she didn't really hide her Meta status and even used it to her advantage in studies, able to perceive things within her "stopped time" that other scientists missed. The implications of her studies started to reach wider, and eventually it became apparent that Dr. Annan could use a mind like hers on his team at the NSO. So now she works there, using those skills and experiences of hers to aid the next generation, while still holding true to her own sense of justice and altruism.
This also means she's often left the lab behind and dawned the mask of a secondary identity to fight battles the NSO cannot officially participate in. "Star Platinum" is the name of that identity, an avenging amazon who uses her strength to fight back against those who would harm others.
"Look, nobody says Jotako Kujo is a nice gal. I beat the crap out of more people than I have to. Some are still in the hospital. There’s plenty of teachers that got on my bad side and never came back to class. And, hey, I make it a policy not to pay if I don't like a meal. But even a girl like me can spot evil when she sees it! Evil is the one who uses and looks down upon the weak, especially women! And that's exactly what you've done, isn't it?! You must think power allows you to avoid laws and consequences, don't you... In that case, I will judge you myself!!"
